Help Yeovil’s independent businesses by going out there as much as you can. There are great independent restaurants bars and shops and we need them to be around after the Council’s works are finished.
I am concerned that the Council is proposing that £5 million of the £9.75m I got from the national Future High Streets Fund - which had been earmarked for regeneration of key town centre sites like the Cattle Market and Glovers Walk / Bus Station -
should instead be used to pay for the massive cost and time over-runs of their public realm works, huge utility diversions they should have known would be needed for what they wanted at the Triangle, and repair of the War Memorial and major buildings which their works undermined.
Such mistakes should be made up by the Council, not by foregoing key regeneration elements of the town centre’s future.
The Council, whose responsibility it is, should do whatever it takes in development incentives with extra floor space and developable area to get Cattle Market, Glovers Walk and Stars Lane sites coming forward.
